  1. dLaserJet Model
  2.  
  3. This option allows you to select the model of LaserJet you will
  4. be using. The model of LaserJet should be selected before
  5. configuring internal fonts.
  6.  
  7. ePrinter Port
  8.  
  9. This option allows you to select the type of connection being
  10. used between the computer and the printer.
  11.  
  12. fUse Expanded Memory
  13.  
  14. This option allows you to specify whether or not expanded memory
  15. should be used when JetPilot is installed as a TSR. When expanded
  16. memory is used, JetPilot runs in expanded memory leaving maximum
  17. memory for DOS programs. 64K of expanded memory is required.

  19. gInternal Fonts
  20.  
  21. This option allows you to configure the internal font presets.
  22. Internal fonts are fonts provided internally by your printer. To
  23. select an internal font, you can either describe the font's
  24. characteristics (using the Font menu) or select the font from
  25. a group of presets (which are configured here).

  27. Note: The model of LaserJet should be selected before configuring
  28. internal fonts.

  30. hCartridge Fonts
  31.  
  32. This option allows you to configure cartridge font presets.
  33. Cartridge fonts are fonts provided on a cartridge which is plugged
  34. into the printer. To select a cartridge font, you can either
  35. describe the font's characteristics (using the Font menu) or
  36. select the font from a group of presets (which are configured
  37. here). Since multiple cartridges can be used, you may define
  38. multiple preset files. Eg. When XYZ cartridge is being used,
  39. you can select fonts from the XYZ preset file. When ABC cartridge
  40. is being used, you can select fonts from the ABC preset file. You
  41. may create and use as many preset files as desired.

  43. iFonts Filename
  44.  
  45. You are being prompted for the name of a cartridge fonts preset
  46. file. You may either create a preset file or edit an existing
  47. one. If a file extension isn't entered, the extension ".FNT"
  48. is assumed.

  50. jFont Preset Editing
  51.  
  52. Press Enter to edit the selected preset. Press Ins to insert a
  53. new preset after the selected one. Press Del to delete the
  54. selected preset. Press Esc when done.

  56. kSymbol Set
  57.  
  58. The symbol set identifies the specific characters and/or symbols
  59. provided by a font. Each symbol set is defined with a specific
  60. application in mind. For example, the legal and math symbol sets
  61. were designed to support legal and scientific applications. You
  62. may select a symbol set from the list given, or you may select
  63. "Other" (located at the bottom of the list). Selecting "Other"
  64. allows you to select an unsupported symbol set. You need only
  65. supply the symbol set code (or ID #). (See your printer manual
  66. for a list of symbol set codes.)

  70. lSpacing
  71.  
  72. Fonts can be either fixed or proportionally spaced. Fixed spaced
  73. fonts are those in which the distance between characters is
  74. constant. Proportionally spaced fonts are those in which the
  75. distance between characters varies with the natural shape of
  76. each character.

  80. mPitch
  81.  
  82. Pitch defines the number of characters printed in a horizontal
  83. inch. Pitch only applies to fixed spaced fonts since the number
  84. of characters per inch varies for proportional fonts.

  88. Range  :  .1 to 576 (valid to 2 decimal places)

  90. nHeight
  91.  
  92. The height of a font is the measurement of the body of the type
  93. in points; a point being 1/72nd of an inch. The body of the
  94. type is slightly greater than the distance from the bottom of a
  95. descender to the top of an unaccented capital letter.

  97. Units  :  1 Point (72nd of an inch)
  98. Default:  12
  99. Range  :  .25 to 999.75 (valid to 2 decimal places)

  101. oStyle
  102.  
  103. Style is defined by the three following characteristics: posture
  104. (upright, italic), width (condensed, normal, expanded, etc.),
  105. and structure (solid, outline, shadow, etc.). You may select a
  106. style from the list given, or you may select "Other" (located
  107. at the bottom of the list). Selecting "Other" allows you to
  108. select an unsupported style. You need only supply the style
  109. code. (See your printer manual for a list of style codes.)

  111. Default:  Upright

  113. pStroke Weight
  114.  
  115. Stroke weight defines the thickness of the strokes that compose
  116. the characters. Select a stroke weight from the list given.
  117.  
  118. Default:  Medium
  119.  
  120. qTypeface
  121.  
  122. Typeface identifies the design of the symbols (characters) of
  123. the font. Each typeface has unique and distinguishing design
  124. characteristics. You may select a typeface from the list given,
  125. or you may select "Other" (located at the bottom of the list).
  126. Selecting "Other" allows you to select an unsupported typeface.
  127. You need only supply the typeface code. (See your printer manual
  128. for a list of typeface codes.)

  132. rImmediate Update
  133.  
  134. This option allows you to specify whether or not the printer
  135. should be immediately updated with JetPilot's current settings
  136. after a selection is made in one of the Control/Job/Page/Font/
  137. Other/System menus. If this option is set to "No", the printer
  138. is updated with JetPilot's current settings only:
  139.  
  140.         1. Immediately when you activate or run JetPilot.
  141.         2. Before an envelope is printed.
  142.         3. Before a file is printed (by JetPilot).
  143.         4. When you exit from JetPilot.
  144.  
  145. Default:  No

  147. sActivation Hotkey
  148.  
  149. This option allows you to specify the key combination needed
  150. to press to activate JetPilot when installed in memory.
